A staffer from Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s office in Illinois is in hot water, after the Department of Homeland Security alleged he posed as an attorney to release an illegal immigrant in ICE custody.
Video posted by DHS on X, allegedly shows the staffer, identified in a letter sent to Duckworth’s office as Edward York, at an ICE facility in St. Louis on Oct. 29. York reportedly works as a Constituent Outreach Coordinator for Duckworth’s office.
According to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, York entered the facility with aims to release Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval — a 40-year-old illegal immigrant who DHS claims has a DUI conviction and has been deported to Mexico four times.
According to Fox News, ICE was not able to verify if the staffer was an attorney.
