On Sept. 8th, Turkish police forced their way into the Istanbul headquarters of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) in an effort to enforce a court order to replace party head, Ozgur Celik, with former deputy chair, Gursel Tekin. The CHP did not recognize the court’s authority to interfere in internal party affairs and subsequently attempted to prevent police and Tekin from entering their headquarters. Tekin ultimately managed to enter the premises with police support.
