Taiwan’s parliament has been gridlocked ever since the ruling Democratic Progressive Party lost its majority in 2024. Civic groups now hope that the recall votes will break the deadlock and remove legislators they view as ‘pro-China’. However, the opposition claims the votes are being misused and could further divide society. Jan Camenzind Broomby reports from Taipei.
