The Conflict of the Ages Is Satan Opposing God’s Plan for Israel—GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE OF PROMISE: Revelation 12:6,14-16—God keeps His promises to Israel as He protects them during the Tribulation. Antichrist rises to power, breaks the promise to let Israel worship in their Temple. He sets up what Jesus calls the “Abomination”, an idol of himself to be worshipped in God’s Temple. This is all part of trampling on Jerusalem. Jesus warned the Jews to flee, as Matthew 24:16 says. Here we see how God hides them in the wilderness East of Jerusalem. This is God supernaturally protecting His chosen people from Satan’s armies that seek to destroy them.
Saints That Overcome as THE ACCUSER IS MUZZLED: Revelation 12:7-12,17—John sees War breaking out in Heaven as God now makes the Devil (“slanderer”), who is also Satan (“adversary”), confined to the Earth. This amplifies his deception of the “whole world”. Satan is not allowed to come before God’s Throne to accuse saints (Job 1:6; 2:1). Confined, he pours out his murderous hatred against Israel and the saints who obey God’s Word. Note the powerful testimony of the saints that God lists—the Word, Christ’s Name, Blood, and Cross. As Hebrews 2:14 reminds us, Satan has already been defeated.
