The Iranian body tasked with vetting legislation approved a bill on Thursday to suspend cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, citing recent US and Israeli strikes. Jacques Audibert, a former negotiator for France on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, notes that it’s politically difficult in the short term for Tehran to cooperate with the IAEA. But in the long term, resuming cooperation is in the international community’s best interests.
