Ma acknowledges that markets could experience "disruptions" related to President Trump’s proposed tariffs and broader policies. However, he advises investors to understand fundamental economic strengths to determine "what the buffer is" or how much the economy can withstand.
Despite potential challenges, Ma describes the current market backdrop as "pretty positive," believing economic fundamentals "can withstand a lot of bumps along the way this year." While there is a significant focus on large-cap stocks, he anticipates a shift towards more "typical" companies in the S&P 500 as earnings season progresses.
"I do think that the story this year is going to be more about how these trends are permeating through the typical company," Ma adds, highlighting emerging themes of enhanced technology, AI innovation, and improved productivity.
