Trump Says Paris Is Going to Be a ‘Muslim City’ Very Soon

President Donald Trump said Monday that Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon. He blamed the riots and looting sweeping French cities on mass immigration and told French President Emmanuel Macron to shut the borders and remove the people causing the trouble.

The unrest began in mid-September when high-school students in the Paris suburbs started blocking schools. They complained about crumbling buildings, missing teachers, overcrowded classrooms, rats in the hallways, and toilets that do not work. Videos of the conditions spread fast. By early October the protests had grown nationwide. Students and supporters demanded more funding, smaller classes, and better facilities. The marches later expanded to include anger over the high cost of living and fuel prices.

On Saturday, October 17, roughly 550,000 people demonstrated across France, according to the Interior Ministry. Organizers put the number higher. After dark, smaller groups turned violent. Rioters set fire to the historic 19th-century town hall in Limoges; its bell tower collapsed. Looters hit stores in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, and other cities. Police made more than 2,000 arrests nationwide. Hundreds of officers and firefighters were injured. One person died of a heart attack during the main Paris march. By Monday, overnight curfews were in place in parts of Paris and other cities.

French officials said the core complaints were about schools and prices. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu blamed ultra-left groups and criminals for the worst destruction. President Macron called the violence unbridled and said those who looted and burned public buildings would be held accountable. Churches and non-Muslim businesses have been destroyed. Anyone can see what is happening. Everyone except the woketards in control of France, as they want to destroy the French people even more than Democrats are doing all they can to destroy America.

Trump saw a different cause. On Sunday he posted on Truth Social: “France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!”

On Monday, speaking to reporters outside the White House before a campaign rally, he said he had warned Macron years earlier. “You’re making a big mistake in France. You’re letting everybody from the world come in. The whole world was coming in, and as you know, Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon, and that wasn’t the deal.” He added that Macron should close the borders and “take those bad people out,” pointing to the people who hate the country, the buildings, the people, and the art. He said Europe is finished if it does not close its borders and remove the criminals. Vice President JD Vance made a similar argument, saying Western liberals imported the third world and ignored whether the newcomers would assimilate.

This is a long-running theme for Trump. In 2017 he told a story about a friend named Jim who used to take his family to Paris every summer. Jim stopped going. Trump quoted him: “Paris is no longer Paris.” Around the same time Trump talked about radicalized areas in Paris where police would not go. In 2024 he said Paris and London are no longer recognizable after Europe “opened their doors to jihad.” Earlier this year he said Sharia law is almost a second way of life in Paris. He has said for years that he told Macron to close France’s borders. Macron did not.

France has an estimated 6 to 7 million Muslims, about 10 percent of the population, with a higher share in the greater Paris area. Many come from former French territories in North Africa and the Middle East. The student protests began in working-class suburbs where many of those communities live. French authorities have not said the protests are driven by immigration or religion. They continue to point to school conditions and the cost of living.

Macron faces presidential elections next year. Marine Le Pen of the National Rally has long called for tighter immigration controls. Trump has backed her in the past. The weekend’s images of a burning town hall, smashed shops, and streets filled with debris have drawn worldwide attention. Trump looks at those pictures and sees the result of open borders. French leaders look at the same pictures and talk about school budgets and prices.
