Early Voting Opens in Texas and More States as the Clock Hits Two Weeks to November 3
Early in-person voting starts today in Texas, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut and South Carolina. Other states have already been casting ballots for days or weeks. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. That leaves roughly two weeks for the remaining voters to decide who controls the House and Senate.
Texas enters early voting with a record 19 million registered voters, according to the Texas Secretary of State. The state’s Senate race between Ken Paxton and James Talarico, plus the governor’s contest, are among the closest in the country. Millions of ballots are already in across the states that started earlier. The University of Florida Election Lab and state reports show the early vote running at a solid pace compared with past midterms, though final totals will not settle until after November 3.
The Whatfinger Polls board at https://dedicatedissues.com/election/polls.html tracks the latest numbers with a lean tag on every pollster. Recent generic-ballot surveys show Democrats ahead by four to nine points, depending on the outfit. Markets on Polymarket and Kalshi price Democrats at roughly 90 percent to take the House and in the low-to-mid 60s for the Senate. Those are prices traders are willing to pay, not a final result. Approval numbers for the president remain underwater in most public polls, a pattern that has historically hurt the party in the White House during midterms.

The same election hub that carries the live polls also holds the full past-elections archive at https://dedicatedissues.com/election/past.html. You can pull up every presidential map from 2000 through 2024, color the states yourself, and compare how midterm swings have moved the House and Senate before. The 2022 and 2018 cycles are the closest comparisons for turnout and party shifts. The board sits at https://dedicatedissues.com/election/ if you want maps, polls and the historical record in one place.
Registration deadlines have already passed in most states. Mail-ballot return rules still vary: some require the ballot in hand by November 3, others accept a postmark. Polling hours and ID rules differ by county. Check your state’s official site or the state pages linked from the Whatfinger election desk before you go.
Two weeks is a short window once early voting is open. The races that decide the next Congress are already receiving ballots. The numbers on the Whatfinger Polls board and the historical maps will keep updating as the count builds.
