A historic 17th-century castle weighing around 400 tons was moved using manpower alone as part of a renovation project in Hirosaki, Japan.
According to the castle park’s website, repair work began at Hirosaki Castle after it was deemed there was “a risk of collapse in the event of a major earthquake or other disaster” in 2008.
Work on the castle’s walls required it to be moved in 2015.
With renovations nearing completion this year, volunteers were invited to help move the castle back to its original place.
Footage shows rows of participants pulling the castle forward using ropes, moving the castle along railings placed underneath its base.
