Angel Reese, a fellow WNBA player, echoed Clark’s sentiments regarding the Rookie of the Year race, saying, “We don’t care about the Rookie of the Year… I think you guys have made it a big thing. We haven’t.” This reflects both players’ focus on team success over individual accolades as they both compete for the honor in their rookie season Heavy.com

Clark, who currently leads the league in assists per game, has been on a tear since the season resumed after the Olympic break. Her exceptional play has helped the Fever secure five wins in their last six games, pushing them into playoff contention. Reflecting on the team’s recent success, Clark emphasized a day-by-day approach: “Even though these games are so important, we’re not really looking that far down the stretch… It’s just one day at a time, but I think our confidence is at an all-time high where it’s been this all season.”
In addition to her scoring, Clark dished out 12 assists and hit five three-pointers, making history as the first WNBA rookie to notch at least 30 points and 10 assists in a single game. With this performance, she also improved her head-to-head record against Reese to 3-1 in the WNBA. Clark is now just six points away from surpassing Tamika Catchings’ franchise rookie record of 594 points for the Fever.
After a dominant performance against the Chicago Sky, where Clark scored a career-high 31 points and added 12 assists, she expressed the significance of the win for her team’s playoff chances: “I thought we played really well, and this was a big one for us… It almost counts towards two when you’re in a playoff race, like a loss and a win. We knew it was a big one, but also we wanted to win the season series with them. That was kind of a focus point”Next Impulse Sports
The game began with the Chicago Sky racing to an early 13-point lead in the first quarter. However, the Fever responded strongly, securing a 47-42 advantage by halftime. Indiana maintained their momentum into the second half, outscoring Chicago 31-22 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 14 points. The Fever continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, eventually stretching their lead to as many as 27 points.
With just three weeks remaining in the regular season, Indiana’s victory lifts them to a 16-16 record and sixth place in the standings. This marks a significant turnaround for the Fever, who began the season with a dismal 3-10 record. When asked if she believed the team could turn things around after their rough start, Clark expressed confidence: “Yeah, I mean, I certainly did… I know there’s going to be a moment where we look back on this later in the season and be like, this 1-8 start is going to help us down the line, and I think now is that moment.”
