President Donald Trump presented an initiative called “Freedom Haulers” on Thursday (July 30) which aims to place military veterans in trucking jobs considering their previous driving experience.
During an event outside the White House, Trump said former military members with heavy truck driving experience would be “automatically eligible for a commercial driver’s license.”
POTUS also said the plan was in line with his strategy to remove undocumented migrants from the American roads and explained 28,000 commercial driver’s licenses “unlawfully issued to illegal aliens” had been cancelled.
Trump’s Freedom Haulers: American Veterans Replace Illegal Alien Truck Drivers
President Trump just launched a common-sense program that should have been done years ago.
It’s called Freedom Haulers. The goal is simple: get unqualified illegal aliens and non-English-speaking drivers off America’s highways and put trained U.S. military veterans behind the wheel of those big rigs instead.
At a White House event on July 30, Trump stood with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins and made it clear. For too long, dangerous foreign drivers have been rolling across our interstates. Many can’t read basic road signs. Some obtained commercial licenses under loose state rules that ignored immigration status. The result has been deadly crashes — Trump said illegal alien truck drivers caused at least 30 American deaths last year alone.
Now the administration is reversing that. Thousands of commercial driver’s licenses issued to illegal aliens and non-English-speaking drivers are being pulled. At the same time, Freedom Haulers creates a fast track for veterans. If you drove heavy trucks in the military, you can skip the usual road-skills test for a civilian CDL. Training support and job connections are being lined up through the Departments of Transportation, Veterans Affairs, Labor, and private trucking companies.
An Army veteran who runs a major trucking firm attended the announcement and called it a big win for both safety and veterans looking for solid work after service. Trucking companies are already stepping up with hiring pledges.

This is classic America First. Our highways should not be a free-for-all for people who shouldn’t even be in the country. Veterans who already know how to handle heavy equipment and follow orders deserve those jobs. Safer roads and more opportunities for the people who served — that’s a double win.
The radical left will scream about “xenophobia” or “jobs Americans won’t do.” Reality is simpler: Americans will do the jobs when the government stops flooding the industry with cheap, unvetted labor that puts everyone else at risk. The Democrats know nothing more than doing all they can to destroy our people and nation. Thank God we have Trump at the helm.
