“India has suffered the most casualties in the world whenever attacks on commercial ships have happened”
The Indian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that it had lodged its “strongest protest” with Iran after summoning the country’s deputy ambassador over the killing of an Indian seafarer in the Strait of Hormuz
The Indian national was among 46 crew members, including 30 Indians, aboard two vessels — MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa — that were attacked while transiting the shipping lane, the ministry said.
Ten other Indian seafarers were wounded, two of whom are reported to be seriously injured, the Foreign Ministry said.
In June, New Delhi summoned the US charge d’affaires after three Indian seafarers were killed and several injured following US strikes on three commercial tankers in the Gulf of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz.
