Knicks fanatic Al James, of Staten Island, took the day off work to celebrate the team’s first NBA title since 1973 — which he said feels like a burden lifted off the city’s shoulders.
“How many Yankee parades? Nothing like this. Two Giants parades? Nothing like this. This is Knick City. This is a basketball town,” the MTA employee, 61, said.
“Knicks fans are loyal. When we won, we were in someone else’s house. Knicks fans lighting cigars, staying in the stadium," James added.
“You ever felt the weight on your shoulders? It’s like the weight is off,” said the longtime fan.
“I never felt the energy like this. I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
