A homeowner in Buxton, North Carolina, relocated an entire oceanfront house to a new inland lot in an effort to save it from coastal erosion. Over two weeks in May, crews lifted the home, placed it on hydraulic dollies, and carefully moved it to its new location while leaving the furniture inside. The project was funded entirely by the homeowner, who hopes to have the house ready for occupancy by summer 2026. The move comes as nearby properties have been lost to the encroaching Atlantic Ocean.
