The Medieval Future Series: Where Sci-Fi and Epic Fantasy Collide in a Bold New Way
What happens when you take the greatest American minds of our time, load them onto Elon Musk’s visionary Ark, and hurl them across the stars toward a new world — only to discover that world is filled with dragons, ancient secrets, immortals, and the same timeless struggle between freedom and tyranny?
That is the electrifying premise of the Medieval Future series by Michael Anthony — a genre-blending saga that masterfully fuses hard science fiction with rich, character-driven epic fantasy.
Time’s Orphans (Book 1) launches the series with high-stakes ambition. In the late 2020s, breakthroughs in cellular resets have conquered aging. A hand-picked crew — including familiar names from the Moonshots program and the Whatfinger team — volunteers for humanity’s most audacious mission: carrying 20,000 fertilized eggs and the seeds of Western civilization to a distant star. Their goal is simple yet profound — to preserve freedom, ingenuity, and the American spirit among the stars.
But paradise is never what it seems. When the Ark finally reaches New Merka — a breathtaking world of twin continents, sapphire seas, and mythical creatures — awe quickly turns to dread. Beth’s prophetic dreams foretell blood, gunfire, and betrayal. As the crew prepares to land, old fractures reopen. The lie they agreed to tell their descendants. Joana’s buried grief. Thorne’s growing conviction that he is destined to rule. Pat’s hidden past. Alex’s chaos.
And then the dragons begin to sing.
Shadows of the Ark (Book 2) explodes the story into full-scale war. Betrayal shatters the fragile new order. A grieving commander races to save his last remaining sister. A broken knight and humble healer uncover ancient passageways holding forbidden truths. A young woman forged in unimaginable suffering strikes back with savage vengeance. As queens and immortals scheme in the shadows, dragons scream across the skies and rifles forever change the nature of war.
What makes the Medieval Future series special is its fearless blend of genres. It delivers the wonder of classic space opera and the sweeping scope of epic fantasy, while grounding everything in deeply human characters. You’ll find dragons and ancient Arks, political intrigue and battlefield heroics, immortals and ordinary people fighting for what they believe in.
Most importantly for many readers, the series doesn’t shy away from truth. It explores the real-world fractures of our time — with honesty, wit, and an unapologetic love for American values — while telling a grand, adventurous story on a new world. The patriotism isn’t forced; it flows naturally from characters who carry the spirit of freedom across the stars, even as new dangers test their resolve.
