It’s as if the last four years of chaos and mismanagement under the Biden-Harris administration have been neatly swept under the rug. The narrative is carefully controlled, and should the conversation ever veer toward these critical issues, it would spell disaster for the Democrats. Trump, with his bombastic style and love of a good fight, would undoubtedly thrive if the election focused on the administration’s failures. But that’s exactly what the media won’t let happen.

Enter Kamala Harris, the unexpected nominee thrust into the spotlight after Biden’s unceremonious exit. Harris, who has never faced the crucible of a full-blown presidential campaign, is ill-equipped to handle the scrutiny that such a campaign would bring. The media, fully aware of her vulnerabilities, has opted for a strategy of obfuscation and flattery. For the next three months, they plan to glide by on a cloud of “vibes” and “joyful” campaigning—empty platitudes that mask the fact that Harris’s campaign is all style and no substance. The Harris-Walz record is indefensible, a house of cards waiting to collapse under even the slightest breeze of scrutiny. Their official campaign website, conspicuously devoid of any substantial policy positions, instead offers seven prominently displayed donation buttons. Priorities, indeed.

She didn’t win a single primary vote, didn’t answer a single tough question from the press, and yet here she is, the Democratic nominee for president. Even now, Harris has yet to sit down for a major interview, instead offering vague promises of doing so “before the end of the month.” Meanwhile, the media, far from demanding answers, has preemptively declared itself powerless. It’s a pathetic display of journalistic cowardice.

Consider this absurdity: A major news outlet runs a headline declaring that Trump’s campaign is pressuring Harris to do a major interview, hoping to “goad” her into a forum where she’s historically vulnerable. The very fact that it’s the Trump campaign, not the press, applying this pressure is a damning indictment of the media’s failure to fulfill its role. If Harris is so vulnerable to answering basic questions, how on earth is she supposed to handle negotiations with hostile foreign leaders? Yet the media, ever the protector, shrugs off these concerns, unwilling to put her to the test.

Harris’s frequent lapses into incoherent and embarrassing statements are well-documented, yet the media bends over backward to ensure she remains in her comfort zone. No tough questions, no unscripted moments, no pressure to explain the inconsistencies in her and Tim Walz’s records. The press could easily expose these vulnerabilities but chooses instead to play the role of protector.
