Ahead of the NATO summit, Latvia’s President Edgars Rinkevics told DW that while he welcomed NATO countries’ commitments to spend 5% of GDP on defense, they must also focus on getting hold of the defense equipment they need. Police were called after EMTs spotted what appeared to be a woman’s legs hanging out of a car trunk in Otisville, New York. Danielle Rodriguez had been lying in the back of the vehicle holding a piece of wood in place after a trip to Home Depot while her mother drove. Concerned for her safety, responders alerted police, who later arrived and quickly realized it was a misunderstanding.
