Apple is set to introduce its latest technological advancement, Apple Intelligence, at its upcoming Glowtime event, alongside the anticipated reveals of the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch X. Following its successful debut during the WWDC keynote in June, Apple Intelligence is poised to become a central feature in the Apple ecosystem, with new capabilities for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Currently available in developer beta form, Apple Intelligence brings advanced writing tools, photo features, and significant Siri upgrades, but the full release is expected later this fall.

Apple Intelligence marks a major shift towards integrating generative tools within its operating systems. The developer beta includes AI-powered writing suggestions, photo clean-up tools, and enhanced Siri interactions. Siri will see upgrades that include a more natural voice and contextual conversations, allowing it to assist users in more dynamic ways. A glowing border will also highlight when Siri is active, and users will be able to type requests directly to Siri using a new double-tap gesture.
Some features, such as AI-based movie creation in Photos and message summaries in apps like Mail and Notes, are already part of the beta. However, several features, like Apple’s GenMoji and Image Playground, are not yet available. These tools, once fully developed, will allow users to generate custom avatars and images directly from their devices. While these functions are expected to roll out later, Apple Intelligence’s full potential will be available only on a select range of devices, primarily those with the latest chipsets, such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Pro, and Macs with M-series processors.
Apple’s focus on privacy sets its Intelligence features apart from other AI platforms. All processing is done on-device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, ensuring user data is secure. While Apple Intelligence doesn’t rely on external AI services like ChatGPT, it will integrate third-party tools, with ChatGPT support being one of the first announced features. This will allow users to access additional AI capabilities within Siri and writing tools.
The rollout of Apple Intelligence will be gradual, starting as a beta for devices running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and MacOS Sequoia 15.1, with US English as the initial language option. Support for more languages is expected by 2025. Apple hasn’t confirmed a specific release date for the public beta, but it’s anticipated later this fall. Additionally, Apple has stated there will be no charge for Apple Intelligence features.
