Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is meeting President Donald Trump at the White House in the hope of averting a damaging trade war.
She’s hoping to act as a mediator between the European Union and the US in negotiations over Mr Trump’s proposed import tariffs. The US president says there will an agreement with the EU and also with China, but he’s in no rush to do trade deals.
