A fire that broke out at the Conference of the Parties 30 (COP30) climate summit in Belem, Brazil, was quickly extinguished on Thursday, November 20, according to event organizers.
In a joint statement, the COP30 Presidency and United Nations Climate Change said the blaze in the Blue Zone of the convention center was brought under control in approximately six minutes.
Organizers said 13 people were treated on-site for smoke inhalation.
Footage captured by journalist Fernando Ralfer shows attendees running from the blaze inside the convention center, as well as emergency vehicles outside the facility.
