US forces killed a suspected drug trafficker during a strike in international waters, but the attack looked different from recent operations. Instead of using an expensive missile, the vessel appears to have been destroyed with heavy cannon fire — possibly from an AC-130 gunship — signaling a shift in tactics. Previously, suspected drug-running boats were often targeted by MQ-9 Reaper drones firing Hellfire missiles that can cost around $150,000 each.
