US President Donald Trump has ruled out sending US ground troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace deal with Russia. His statement comes a day after he pledged to help guarantee Ukraine’s security during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. In an interview with Fox News, Trump instead suggested the US may provide air support as part of a deal to end Russia’s three-year war in Ukraine.
As diplomatic efforts go into overdrive in the West trying to find an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, the fighting rages on inside the country. Ukraine’s air force says Moscow launched some 270 drones and 10 missiles overnight, in the largest attack so far this month. Authorities say the strikes largely targeted energy facilities, including Ukraine’s only oil refinery.
