The key to understanding Revelation is not to have a chart beside your Bible telling you exactly what the dragon is, listing the seven bowls in order, and telling you which nations are in the End Times.
The key to understanding Revelation is knowing what God says about it. He knows we get confused and don’t understand everything right away, so the Author stops to explain exactly what we’ll be reading so we don’t miss anything.
Right at the beginning, in Revelation 1:1, God gives this book a divine title. He didn’t leave it to us to guess what this book is about. He calls it “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Now, He could have called it “The Prophecies of the End Times,” or “The Warnings about the Future,” but He didn’t. This is the “Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
