Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel demonstrators clashed in Times Square on March 12. The pro-Palestinian rally, held on the last Friday of Ramadan and dubbed the “International Day of Outrage,” called for solidarity with Palestine and an end to Islamophobia. Countering them, pro-Israel supporters protested against antisemitism, labeling the event “anti-American” and “anti-Israel.” Tensions briefly escalated into skirmishes before NYPD officers intervened to separate the groups.
