New measures to keep young people safe online have been criticised for lacking ambition, and prioritising the interests of tech companies over children.
Ofcom published its final children’s codes of practice which include forcing websites and apps to introduce effective age checks, and change their algorithms to filter out harmful content.
But campaigners, which include Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, say the rules do not go far enough, and give tech firms too much of a say, in defining exactly what content is harmful, rather than forcing them to deal with it.
Mariano Janin’s daughter Mia was bullied "in person and online" before she took her own life.
