Reports of Hamas leader’s death ‘bring fears of more fighting in Lebanon’ • FRANCE 24 English

The Israeli military said Thursday it was looking into whether Hamas’ top leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in a military operation in Gaza. Authorities were conducting DNA tests on a body to determine if it is him, an Israeli security official said. The news has spread quickly in Beirut, says France 24’s reporter on the ground Catherine Norris Trent, where some fear if the death is confirmed it could see Israel shift its focus increasingly to the conflict in Lebanon.
