NATO members have agreed to Donald Trump’s demand for drastically higher defense spending. The alliance’s summit in the Netherlands has been dominated by Trump’s call for European members to raise spending on defense to 5% of their national output by 2035.
Trump hailed the agreement as a ‘great victory for everyone.’ All NATO members except Spain and Slovakia are committed to the spending increases. Trump also met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in The Hague and reaffirmed his commitment to NATO’s mutual security pact.
