Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro struck a softer tone toward the United States, saying he is open to serious talks with President Donald Trump on issues ranging from drug trafficking to U.S. investment in Venezuela’s oil sector. In an interview aired on state television, Maduro described the US as a “brother country” and said Venezuela would welcome American companies, including Chevron, amid rising tensions between the two nations.
