I love the simplicity of the Gospel. Jesus gave us three powerful truths to hold onto through life, and that will get us safely into our place He has prepared for us in Heaven. Just before Jesus left His disciples to return to Heaven, He spoke these words in John 14:6.
This passage is well known, but often the incredible, absolute assertions that Christ made slip by us unnoticed at times. Think about Christ’s disciples who heard those most precious words Jesus ever spoke are His words in John 14:1-6.
John 14:1-6
1 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
4 “And where I go, you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. NKJV
Jesus knew He was going to the Cross, paying the price for sin by His death, rising on the third day, and soon after, ascending back to Heaven. He was giving His disciples vital truth they needed to survive what would follow. In nine words, Jesus told them that He was everything they would ever need.
