IT IS FINISHED–MY DEBT IS ETERNALLY GONE–IMPUTED TO JESUS–NOW THERE IS NO RECORD OF MY SIN

Communion declares Christ’s finished work!

Jesus has reached the last evening He will share with His beloved Disciples. His plan is to celebrate Passover and transform it into a special memorial to the FINISHED WORK of His death. Communion is for His church to celebrate until He Returns.

So, on Christ’s last evening with His beloved disciples, He inaugurates the Lord’s Supper as the fulfillment of all Passovers. Christ’s Work of Salvation is celebrated as FINISHED!

During the supper, He says in Mark 14:24, And He said to them,
“This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many.

What is the New Testament or Covenant in His Blood?

Look at His words in Acts 26:18
‘to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

How does God forgive us when we are all guilty and deserving of punishment? Jesus gave Himself for us, and when He did so, He FINISHED all that needed to be done to pay for sins! For a moment, listen to the heart of Charles Wesley reflected in the hymn Arise my soul arise.

Arise my soul arise,
Shake off thy guilty fears;
The bleeding sacrifice,
In my behalf appears;
Before the throne my surety stand,
My name is written on His hands.

My God is reconciled,
His pardoning voice I hear,
He owns me for His child,
I can no longer fear;
With confidence, I now draw nigh,
And Father, Abba Father, cry.

Now look at His declaration of the FINISHED WORK in John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
