America’s defence secretary has reiterated Donald Trump’s claim that US strikes "obliterated" three nuclear facilities in Iran, despite ongoing international debate over how much damage was done.
Speaking at a news conference at the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth said: "You want to call it destroyed, you want to call it defeated, you want to call it obliterated – choose your word, this was a historically successful attack."
However, Iran continues to deny the effectiveness of the US attacks, with the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claiming earlier in a televised speech that they "failed to achieve anything significant".
