Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared the country a disaster zone on Tuesday after Hurricane Melissa caused fatalities and extensive damage to critical infrastructure, including hospitals. The cyclone, now a Category 4, continues toward eastern Cuba, where authorities have activated the highest alert level and begun evacuating hundreds of thousands of residents.
