Harrowing viral video circulating online captured the moment a bus carrying 40 people plunged into the water while attempting to board a ferry in Bangladesh, as horrified witnesses couldn’t believe their eyes. The deadly accident occurred on March 25, when the bus lost control as it approached the ferry, officials said.
Rescuers and divers were deployed on March 26 to search the Padma River, and recovered 22 bodies from inside the submerged bus, including six men, 11 women and five children, a fire service official has said. Twenty-four people have been confirmed dead so far, including two women who died after being rescued.
