A 24-year-old wrestled a firearm away from a man involved in a brawl at the Alaska State Fair on Monday, September 1.
According to local news outlet KTUU, 24-year-old Jaden Perry was helping a friend break down a booth on Monday when he noticed two young men fighting, with one man pulling out a gun.
In the video, Perry can be seen wrestling the gun away from one of the men while pointing the firearm toward the ground. People can be seen working to assist him as several other individuals attempt to continue fighting.
“I didn’t think much during it, but afterwards I’m glad I did. I would do it again every time. Last thing anybody needs to do is bury their child, take their kid to the hospital, or even a parent, they were everywhere,” he told KTUU.
Perry said he saw at least eight people fighting, but was only involved in disarming the one man.
In a statement to KTUU, Alaska State Fair director of marketing and communications Melissa Keefe said management were almost immediately aware of the situation and quickly contacted law enforcement. Keefe said the fair commends Perry for disarming the individual and called his actions “heroic.”
An investigation was ongoing.
