North Korea has detained four officials over the failed launch of its second naval destroyer, an incident leader Kim Jong Un has called a result of ‘criminal negligence.’ The 5,000-ton warship tipped onto its side during a launch ceremony last week, and satellite images show the vessel partially submerged and draped in blue covers. Despite official claims that the damage is ‘not serious’ and will take just 10 days to fix, outside experts say flooding in the engine room and structural damage could take more than a year to repair. We speak to Aidan Foster-Carter, a Korea expert at the University of Leeds in the UK.
