Dame Esther Rantzen, an outspoken supporter of the assisted dying bill, sent a letter to MPs that triggered fury because it suggested that "undeclared religious beliefs" were behind some MPs’ opposition to the legislation.
It comes as MPs continue to debate the proposed legislation in the Commons.
