The US Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Air Force made a daring rescue on Aug. 24, airlifting two passengers from the Ruby Princess cruise ship off the coast of Washington State. One of the hoisted passengers was a 99-year-old man who was suffering from a complete esophageal obstruction. The other rescued passenger was a 52-year-old woman who was on life support after suffering cardiac arrest.
