Lucy Powell, deputy leader of the Labour Party, told Sky News that "dozens" of MPs turned up to support Keir Starmer.
Powell was elected by the party membership against the wishes of the party leadership. However, she is still giving her full-throated support to the prime minister.
"I think what we saw tonight, very, very clearly and resoundingly, was how much support there is for Keir Starmer as our leader in the PLP," she says.
She went on to say that she has "her own mandate" from the party but still supports Starmer as prime minister.
Powell says changes need to be made, but that does not mean moving to "more to the left".
