Director of the Oscar-nominated film It Was Just An Accident has told Sky News the Iranian government "is ready to do anything to survive". The film has been been nominated for best screenplay and best international film and was shot covertly in Iran.
It was inspired by the director Jafar Panahi’s most recent stint in prison.
One of the screenwriters of the film has been arrested in Tehran days after signing a statement condemning the country’s violent crackdown on protesters.
In the statement, Mehdi Mahmoudian and 16 others accused the Iranian regime of state crime against humanity.
