During his hosting of the Kennedy Center Awards, President Donald Trump promised a major crackdown on crime in Washington DC, saying, “Already they’re saying he’s a dictator … instead of saying he’s a dictator, they should say we’re going to join him and make Washington safe.” Speaking at the Kennedy Center, Trump credited Attorney General Pam Bondi for driving “a big change in Washington crime stats” and promised the city would soon be “essentially crime free,” a beacon for other major U.S. cities struggling with crime.
