China’s market regulator says a preliminary probe found US chip giant Nvidia violated the country’s anti-monopoly law, citing commitments tied to its $6.9 billion Mellanox acquisition. The move could expose Nvidia to fines of up to 10% of annual sales — with China making up $17 billion of its revenue last year. This comes as US and Chinese officials meet for high-stake trade talks in Madrid.
