A car thief let off a fire extinguisher in the apparent hope of hampering a police pursuit, video showed, but failed to make a great escape. Dashcam footage released by West Midlands Police shows the car in which 19-year-old Shane McCallion was a passenger as the fire extinguisher is let off. Police said officers spotted the car after it was reported stolen in late October.
At one point, the extinguisher itself is thrown from the car. McCallion was arrested for theft and aiding and abetting dangerous driving. He pleaded guilty at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court, police said on December 11.
