The Archbishop of Westminster has described the process of choosing a new pope as a "profound spiritual experience".
Cardinal Vincent Nichols’ description contrasts with the machinations and rancour depicted in the book and film Conclave.
The archbishop was one of 133 cardinals who made up the conclave that chose Pope Leo XIV.
"It’s been a profound spiritual experience," he told Sky News.
"Unlike in the film, there was no rancour, I didn’t hear a raised voice. It was far more clam and recollected. A wonderful experience, frankly, I found it remarkable and life-giving."
