Federal prosecutors say two Boston convenience store owners trafficked nearly $7 million in SNAP benefits by exchanging food stamp funds for cash, selling liquor for SNAP payments, and reselling donated meals meant for hungry children overseas. Investigators allege the stores posted monthly redemptions between $100,000 and $500,000 and funneled proceeds through multiple bank accounts to conceal the scheme. The defendants are charged with food stamp fraud and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
